Keen to learn how to write an effective submission? Want to have your say on alcohol in your community?

Community Waitakere and Auckland Regional Public Health Service are hosting three community activation sessions to support you in making a written submission on the draft Local Alcohol Policy which is out for public consultation.

WHEN:

Henderson: Thurs 26 June, 12:00pm-2:00pm, Waitakere Community Resource Centre, 8 Ratanui St, Henderson

Glen Eden: Wed 2 July, 6:30-8:30pm Glen Eden Community House, 13 Pisces Road, Glen Eden

Avondale: Thurs 10 July, 6:30pm-8:30pm, Avondale Community Centre, 99 Rosebank Road, Avondale

WHY:

Submissions are an important way for community members to participate in decision making that affects them. Come along to one of these sessions, learn the nuts and bolts (and the value) of submission writing and sharpen your skills in expressing your views now and in the future. There’s many good reasons to make a submission:

  • you feel very strongly about an issue
  • you and your family will be personally affected
  • your business will be affected
  • you are part of a group of people with an interest in a proposal – a community of interest
  • you have special knowledge or expertise
  • you’ve thought of an important point that might be missed
  • you want to add your voice to other voices, to show the authorities that a particular view is widely held.
