Forum on Family Violence Prevention in Fiji

You are invited to a forum on

“Creating Change - what is working to prevent family violence in Fiji”.

 

The Speaker is Shamima Ali of Fiji Women Crisis Centre

 

 

Shamima has been the co-ordinator of Fiji Women Crisis Centre since 1986 and is current Chair of the Pacific Women’s Network Against Violence.   She is a former Fiji Human Rights Commissioner.   In March 2007, she was a recipient of the United States Government Department of State, Woman of Courage Award.  She was a recipient of Amnesty International NZ inaugural Human Rights Defender in 2009.  In December 2011 she was named “Person of the year” by Islands Business magazine and in June 2012 was appointed to UN Expert Group on “Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls’.
