Expressions of Interest: OCC and MOE Youth Voices Groups

September 08, 2022 at 10:35 PM

Notice from the Office of the Children’s Commissioner - https://www.occ.org.nz/

The Office of the Children’s Commissioner is working alongside the Ministry of Education to engage, share and amplify the voice of mokopuna throughout the New Zealand Curriculum Refresh.

To do this we are setting up three Youth Voice Groups (Youth Voices, Rangatahi Maori and Disabled Youth) with a deliberate focus on recruiting a diverse range of mokopuna, including those who identify as part of the rainbow community, and/or are care experienced, as well as mokopuna living in rural communities, and/or mokopuna with informal and non-formal education experience. These three groups will then be part of designing engagement with the curriculum on their own terms.

We are recruiting mokopuna for each of these groups through an expression of interest process.

Community organisations, schools and other appropriate agencies can nominate a young person that they will support to be involved in the groups.

You can nominate mokopuna aged 15-17 (as of October 1st 2022) either by:

The expression of interest process will close on Sunday the 16th of October.

If you wish to learn more, we will be hosting information sessions both online and in certain centres across the motu (dates to be confirmed).

Please advise us if you wish to attend an information session and we will send out more information shortly.

If you have any questions or queries, please send us an email at educationvoices@occ.org.nz
