Training opportunities

Use this page to find out about family violence and sexual violence related trainings available around Auckland as well as trainings provided by WAVES Trust.

WAVES is also able to design trainings or workshops to meet the particular needs of your agency.  Recent trainings have included-

  • family violence and abuse awareness trainings for in-home caregivers
  • family violence awareness for employers
  • family violence screening advice
  • impact of family violence on children (including training for Police)
  • workshops for teachers on recognising and responding to children living with family violence

WAVES also works with other agencies to deliver education opportunities, eg.

  • cultural awareness workshops in collaboration with Auckland Council, Settling In, and Ethnic service providers. 
  • legal education workshops with Waitakere Community Law Service
  • hosting community information sessions for MSD (eg. The Green Paper for Vulnerable Children)
  • contributing to family violence awareness trainings within other organisations
