Local Alcohol Plan:
There has been a lot in the media over the past week about the Auckland Council's draft Local Alcohol Plan which is being opened up for public submissions. Alcohol causes significant harm within our community and is a known risk factor in family violence incidents.
Council proposal to let certain venues open until 5am seen as recipe for more violence.

Caravan park residents to be evicted:
Western Park Viallge, Ranui, has been ordered by Auckland Council to apply for permanent status consent for 23 long-term tenants who were no longer considerd as "transient"
The equality debate: inequaltity in New Zealand:
Two British health researchers are gearing up to challenge New Zealanders' unusually high tolerance of what many countries consider a social evil - inequality.
Professors Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett, whose book 'The Spirit Level', will present this year's Sir Douglass Robb Lectures at the University of Auckland from May 19-23.
