Shakti: Let's Deal With It Campaign Update
March 06, 2020 at 2:23 PM
After much deliberation, and consultation Shakti Community Council Inc has made the difficult decision to delay the launch and local events organised across New Zealand and Australia. The events organised across Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Sydney, and Melbourne were expected to draw hundreds for table talk conversations on eliminating discrimination in public spaces in both countries.
As the COVID-19 situation unfolds, Shakti would have been in a difficult position in making decisions on extensive staff travel required to manage these events, and not being able to host events in certain cities where other events are being cancelled. In the interest of public health and safety and given the concerns around the one year anniversary since 15th March the Council has decided to delay hosting these events till further notice.
We do however intend to continue with a soft launch of the digital campaign online in March as initially planned, and want to thank all our partners and supporting organisations for standing behind us with this decision. The Council will closely evaluate as things progress and we hope that you join us for these Table Talks at a later date.
