New Evidence Based Policing Centre opens
January 18, 2018 at 1:46 PM
*From the NZFVC*
The Government has announced the launch of a new Evidence Based Policing Centre. The Centre will work on research projects to improve Police’s operational and frontline capabilities.
Police Minister Stuart Nash said“The Centre is designed to better inform Police in their work to prevent crime and protect the public. It uses information, crime-science and problem-solving methods to lead to better, smarter, and more efficient ways of working.”
The Centre is a collaboration between Police, the University of Waikato, and the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) with support from Vodafone New Zealand. It is based in Wellington and will focus on both prevention and response to crime.
The initial plans to launch the Centre were announced in January 2017.
For more information also see the ESR press release and Speech from Minister Stuart Nash.
