Many children banned from school

At-risk pupils fall through the cracks in the education system exclusion of disruptive children. Some miss out a whole school term; one missed out the entire school year.
The high numbers of at-risk pupils sparked a huge concern that they should have at least somewhere to go to and quickly. Prolonged failure to enrol at a school puts that child at greater disadvantage. The Ministry of Education is expected to invest in this to ensure these type of children do not needlessly suffer compounded disadvantages.
Labour Education spokesperson Chris Hipkins adds that 'it costs far less to spend money getting kids ...into education..or school, than it does to lock someone up in prison after things go badly'.
