Local West Auckland Funding Opens
January 23, 2014 at 11:58 AM
Applications are now open for Henderson/Massey, Waitakere Ranges or the Whau Local Board.
If your community group is based in the Henderson/Massey, Waitakere Ranges or Whau Local Board areas then Auckland Council currently has funds open that may be of benefit to your organisation. To check which local board your organisation is in, please visit: Find your Ward and Local Board
Auckland Council provides grant funding to support community oriented projects and activities that help council make Auckland the world’s most liveable city. The most appropriate source of funding for your project will depend on the nature of your activities and their geographic location; currently funds outlined below are open for applications and will close on Friday 28th February 2014 at 5:00pm.
YOUTH PROGRAMME FUND
The Youth Programme Fund is designed to assist organisations providing regular programmes for youth aged between 13 and 20 years. The fund primarily covers staff and volunteer expenses, venue hire, advertising, promotions and the purchase of equipment. Decisions for funding will be made in April and project costs need to occur after April 2014 and be spent before April 2015. A maximum of $5,000 is available for assistance per organisation.
ACCOMMODATION ASSISTANCE FUND
The Accommodation Assistance Fund is designed to provide a more equitable, fairer and transparent form of funding than the previous rates remissions. Community groups who either
- own their own property
- lease a property
- or rent a property
and paid rates to Auckland Council in 2013 can apply to have the rates/or part of the rates reimbursed. The Accommodation Assistance Fund has a total amount of $50,000 to allocate for this funding round. There is no ceiling amount that community groups can apply for.
FEE WAIVERS FUND
This is a regulatory fee waiver reimbursement (fees must be paid in full before applying) for some fees and charges relating to facilities, projects and activities that are for local community use and provide local community benefits. Fees that can be supported are:
- Project Information Memorandum fees
- Building Consent fees: plan processing fee, planning check fee, inspection fee and code compliance certificate fee.
- Land Use Consent fee (including site visit and formal report)/
LOCAL BOARD COMMUNITY FUNDING
All local boards have small community funding budgets to distribute to projects, groups and activities in their areas during 2013/2014. Each local board will disburse the funds at their own discretion, however, boards favour innovative projects that involve or benefit a broad cross-section of the local community, and are consistent with the strategic priorities set out in their local board plans. Applications can be submitted for up to $5,000 for project costs from April 2014 – April 2015.
There will be several of workshops run across the three local board areas for community groups to attend. More information on dates and venues will be sent to everyone shortly.
For further information in regards to the funds please visit the Auckland Council website: Auckland Council Website
To start an application for one of these funds please visit Smartygrants. This is a new online application process for Auckland Council.
