Local Alcohol Policy Workshops

Alcohol Healthwatch Forum – Tuesday 20 May
Alcohol Healthwatch are holding a Community Action workshop on Tuesday 20th May between 9:30am – 2:30pm at the Waipuna Conference Suites Highbrook (60 Highbrook Dr, Auckland). This will be ideal for stakeholders working with communities and also for community advocates.
Auckland Council has been developing the draft Local Alcohol Policy for Auckland over the past year. Council officers are reporting back on the draft policy to the Regional Strategy and Policy Committee on the 13th May. Pending any further recommendations or changes by the Committee, the draft policy will go out for public consultation mid June to mid July.The workshop will be one of the first opportunities you get to hear what is included in the draft Local Alcohol Policy for Auckland. HPA Alcohol Workshop Series – Tuesday 27 May
Also, on the 27th May, the Health Promotion Agency are holding a workshop here in Auckland titled ‘Getting Communities in on the Act’. This will be a bit more broader in scope (e.g. looks at the whole SSAA 2012). The Alcohol Healthwatch forum which will be very specific to the Auckland draft LAP. It is expected that these events are complementary. The invite for this event is attached here.
Local Workshops
Auckland Regional Public Health Service are also working collaboratively with Community Waitakere and other organisations throughout the region on workshops to encourage people to submit on the draft Local Alcohol Policy when it comes out for consultation. We currently have a submission writing workshop organised for 26 June, 12pm-2pm in Henderson. More information will be sent out for this shortly.
