Healthy Families Waitakere is about encouraging New Zealanders to live healthy, active lives by making good choices, being physically active, sustaining a healthy weight, being smoke-free and moderate alcohol consumption and is part of the Government’s approach to supporting the underlying causes of good health.
KAIWHAKAHAU / ACTIVATOR - HEALTHY FAMILIES WAITAKERE
(Full time, fixed term to June 2018)
The primary focus of the Kaiwhakahau role is to contribute to building effective partnerships with mana whenua and mataawaka and will support the implementation of a relevant health promotion settings framework within Maori settings, workplaces, schools and early childhood services in Waitakere.
The Kaiwhakahau will contribute to the strengthening of local networks and support partnerships to undertake health promotion interventions. The Kaiwhakahau role will support strategic engagement with Maori Leadership and stakeholders and requires an excellent knowledge of mana whenua, mataawaka, Maori concepts of health, Te Ao Maori and the ability to network and operate with senior leaders from the community.
ACTIVATOR - HEALTHY FAMILIES WAITAKERE
(Full time, fixed term to June 2018)
The primary focus of this role is to assist early childhood services, schools, workplaces and other key community settings in Waitakere to become health promoting environments. The Activator will contribute to the strengthening of local networks, support partnerships to undertake health promotion interventions; particularly around workplace environments and secondary schools.
We are looking for a person with a background in workplace health and with experience in working with education settings to design effective solutions to assist organisations to implement healthy change. The role would require you to scope, review, develop and support strategies to assist organisations to adopt healthy change solutions.
If you are passionate, innovative and up for a challenge and have the ability to build effective relationships with our community, these roles are for you. You will also have demonstrated a commitment to improving the health of Maori and Pacific communities. Experience in the health sector is not essential, however you must have a desire to support communities to become healthier.
