An exciting opportunity has arisen in our service for a value driven, strengths based social worker who is passionate about family/whanau, community wellbeing and wants to be part of creating better outcomes for those who are marginalized and homeless. This position will be full time and based in South Auckland. The role will be to support families to find sustainable housing solutions through advocacy and supporting them in our Emergency Housing Service.
Monte Cecilia Housing Trust has been advocating for and working with homeless families for over 30 years. We are a small team, dedicated to supporting families to achieve sustainable housing through our emergency, transitional & longer term housing with wrap around social services. This role does involve travel out in the community.
Please apply only if you have or can demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- Social Work qualification
- Evidence of excellent people and communication skills,
- Ability to set clear boundaries.
- Proven ability to self-manage and be highly accountable.
- Evidence a working knowledge of child safety, domestic violence, addiction, mental health, probation and homelessness.
- Previous experience of working with Maori, Pacific Island and new immigrants with a clear commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Competent and proven crisis and risk management skills.
- Proven ability and experience in using data systems.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with clients, team, and external agencies.
- Full and clean drivers licence
- At least 3 years of social work experience would be preferable but not a requirement.
- The ability to speak Tongan or Samoan would be of benefit.
