Massey Matters is a Community Development Organisation serving both West and East Massey in West Auckland.

Our team work with heart and passion empowering our community through delivery of a wide range of activities, workshops, funds, networks, programmes and events. We manage the Manutewhau Community Hub, which is situated outside West Harbour Primary School, and the Massey Community Hub, by Triangle Park, enabling us to create connection in Massey.

About the role
As the HIPPY coordinator you will have primary responsibility for all aspects of local programme implementation and management.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the planned number of families are recruited for each year's intake
Conduct the initial interview and enrol the parent in their home
Interview and select tutors from amongst the target families
Instruct and support the tutors in the course of their work, through weekly training sessions, individual Delivery Updates and regular Home Visit supervisions
Provide professional development for tutors leading to future employment or study
Deal with specific problems concerning the implementation of the programme in the homes
Plan and guide group meetings
Coordinate with various community elements involved in the programme
Report regularly to HIPPY New Zealand at Great Potentials which provides ongoing instruction, advice and support
Participate in national meetings and workshops for coordinators
Plan and facilitate workshops for tutors at Regional Training
Be responsible for administration and accountability connected with the local operation of the programme
Report to the HIPPY Provider / Management Team on a regular basis
Be involved at local site with fundraising for the programme as required
 
Skills and experience

A tertiary qualification in education, social sciences or human services, and experience in teaching, social work, psychology or community work
Experience with young children
Experience in adult education or counselling
Experience coordinating school or community based projects
Knowledge of the lives and living conditions of the target population
Commitment and sensitivity to working with lower income and multi-cultural communities
Strong leadership qualities
Administrative ability
Strong verbal and written skills
Ability to interact comfortably in the community
Ability to promote inter-agency liaison in support of the programme
Ability to work under the guidance of a local advisory group
