Hestia Rodney Women’s Refuge seeks an exceptional Manager to lead our team of skilled and dedicated advocates and administrator in providing an outstanding service supporting women and children in our vast rural and semi-rural area who are unsafe due to abuse in their homes. Hestia Rodney Women’s Refuge is a community organisation with affiliation to the National Collective of Independent Women’s Refuges. We have a commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi and practice Parallel Development.

Our aim is to walk alongside women while they make the necessary changes to live safer lives, by offering strength based support, advocacy and education.  We assist them with individualised safety plans and when requested, provide a safe place to go or meet with them in the community regardless of ethnicity, ability, sexual preference or residential status. 

We are seeking an exceptional manager to support the advocates and with innovative skills to lead the agency into the future with vision and meaningful connections in the wider community.  Our agency is in the process of change - of our structure and the development of an equitable Parallel Development process. This position will initially require change management skills and involve development of policies and the induction of a new governance model.

The Manager will work alongside the staff and report to our supportive governance group.  We are looking for a person whose skills include a strong financial understanding, ability to oversee funding and contracting processes and a strong knowledge and practice with HR processes.  Additionally, with the assistance of the team the Manager will participate in awareness building of domestic violence in the local community.

Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in domestic violence related social services particularly refuge, those with a strong cultural awareness and experience with Parallel Development and those who have experience in business management. Our team requires a leader with exceptional talent who can enhance our dynamic service by providing an empathetic nature, networking ability and operational experience.
