Consultation: Developing an Ethnic Domestic Violence Response Framework

November 09, 2018 at 3:51 PM

From the Human Rights Commission

The Human Rights Commission of New Zealand & Shakti Community Council Inc. warmly invites you for a consultation meeting towards the development of an Ethnic Domestic Violence Response Framework.

Migrant and Refugee communities of Asian, African and Middle Eastern ethnicities account for approximately 10% of New Zealand’s population. While it continues to grow, complex issues such as domestic violence and abuse continue to manifest in various forms within our communities.

Considering that various perspectives exist in the area of addressing domestic violence, it is important that we get together to develop a framework that will guide us and other agencies that we work with, on to a common platform.

We want to hear from you about your experiences, and your suggestions about how family violence can be prevented in your community as well as what you think can be done to improve support services for women in your community experiencing violence.
