Accessing emergency and transitional housing in West Auckland
March 22, 2019 at 2:24 PM
The message and information below is from Sharon Ryan who works for the Salvation Army Waitakere. Sharon asked if WAVES could help distribute information about accessing emergency and transitional housing in West Auckland - if you have any questions you can find Sharon's contact details below
Kia Ora Koutou to everyone working in West Auckland social services,
Attached is an easy-to-read explanation of how people can access emergency and transitional housing.
Recently I've become concerned by a few experiences where social workers have turned away people needing housing due to a lack of understanding about housing options available. This sector has grown rapidly recently so I'm aware many of you may not be fully up to date with housing options available.
Please take the time to read through the attached document. It is an easy to read explanation of how individuals and families can access emergency, transitional and other housing options available in West Auckland. The WINZ processes detailed in this document have been approved as correct by a Work and Income manager.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
