The Violence Intervention Programme (VIP) teams across CCDHB and HVDHB will be running a family violence campaign – 16 Days of Action – from 25th November (International Elimination of Violence against Women Day / White Ribbon Day) to 10th December (International Human Rights Day) – based on the UN’s annual campaign to end gender-based violence. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the international campaign and the theme is ‘Orange the World: End Violence Against Women NOW!’

The purpose of the 2DHB campaign is to:

  1. highlight family violence as a health issue
  2. recognise health professionals as being well positioned to respond to family violence
  3. increase awareness of VIP as the health response to family violence.

A series of events and lunchtime workshops facilitated by specialists on family violence and strangulation, economic abuse, traumatic brain injury and suicide, have been organised for this period.

These free workshops are available to community partners and NGOs in the Wellington region, so please sign up and come along!
