PETER TOEWS

MANAGER

Hello, I’m Peter Toews (rhymes with “waves”), Manager of WAVES Trust.  My role at WAVES is to provide advocacy, strategic advice, information and representation on behalf of the family violence community in Waitakere.  I also manage the financial and staffing aspects of the WAVES Trust.

Before coming to WAVES I have worked to support healthy families through strengthening families as a facilitator, advocate, case coordinator, a clinician with couples, children, and systemic family therapy modalities, school psychology, research psychology, health psychology and clinical psychology.  Always learning I have obtained several degrees/diplomas including M.Div., M.A., and PhD.

I grew up in the Northern Hemisphere but chose to live in New Zealand due its stand on peace issues, the Treaty of Waitangi, and its sheer beauty.  Even though I have only lived in Waitakere for just over 7 years I am proud to be a Westie.  I enjoy the wonderful WAVES Staff and Board and look forward to supporting the family violence sector with all my energy, optimism and support.

ASENACA ULUIVITI

COORDINATOR

Born and raised in Fiji, educated in Aotearoa/New Zealand I am a single mother, a lawyer in my recent life, and worked as a civil servant and a UN diplomat in a distant past. The constant is my heart for serving community. In the 80s and 90s I served in GreenPeace New Zealand Board, Tangata Pasifika Resources Development Trust and Nuclear Free and Independent Pacific Board. Now I help lead the Auckland Fiji Community, am a fijian language broadcaster with Pasifika Health and Welfare Network, co-facilitate a childrens programme on family violence for a womens refuge and I sit on the Pacific Advisory Group of the National Taskforce on Family Violence. As Coordinator at WAVES I know we can work collaboratively with you in the Waitakere community

JO RICHDALE

PROJECT AND RESEARCH ANALYST

jo1.jpgI'm Jo Richdale. I'm here to support the WAVES network by writing submissions, providing access to information and research literature, and coordinating projects.

Before coming to WAVES I completed a PhD in History and have worked for corporates, small companies and NGOs in a variety of admin/accounting and project-oriented roles.

I have lived in Waitakere for over 15 years and have loved raising my family here.  In my spare time I continue to research and write about early-twentieth-century Pakeha New Zealand families.

I look forward to working with you to help you access information and research on family violence in New Zealand.

ADMINISTRATOR

I'm Ann Ross, Administrator at WAVES Trust. I am responsible for the accounts and administration of the Trust.

Before coming to WAVES, I worked as Senior Accounts Administrator for CCS Disability Action in Albany. I very much enjoy being a 'Westie' and especially like the diversity of the people who live here, the bush with its beautiful native birds and Bethells Beach.

I enjoy supporting the dedicated staff  that work here at WAVES and meeting the wonderful people that work in the family violence sector.
